Playhouse Merced is a cultural fixture in the community, dedicated to creating passionate, ingenious, polished and inspired theatrical events that feature both local and national talent. A Variety of Broadway cannon of Musicals, Pulitzer Prize winning drama’s, conservatory shows with and for children, family friendly fare and an alternate season of four plays engage the mind and the imagination.
Founded in 2002 Merced Shakespearefest is dedicated to the joy of performing Shakespeare's plays for the community. Every year in August it brings a fun-filled, family-friendly play of the Bard to the Merced Open Air Theater (MOAT) in Applegate Park. In winter the company performs a more serious classical play at the Merced Multicultural Arts Center.
